Junkies: How long have you been playing? How did you start?
Been playing music for 19 years!
So my Uncle Nathan could pick up any instrument and play it within a week. He became my inspiration. Couple of neighborhood kids played guitar and I was fascinated by it so at 14, I bought my first guitar – a Fender Acoustic DG-5 - for $70! Worked all summer for the money and still own her today. Every song I write starts with her in my hands.
Junkies: What brand do you play? Model? Any endorsements?
On stage, I play an ESP LTD Viper 1000 through a Peavey Valve King Amp with a Marshall 1960a modified cab. My latest addiction is buying different guitar pedals to cultivate our unique sound. The TC Electronics Arena Reverb is a sweet new addition to my set up. Any endorsements would kick ass!
Junkies: Do you play any other instruments?
In my first band, believe it or not, I was the drummer. We had two guitarists already, and I was hankerin’ to play in a band, so I took drums. We never made it out of the garage. Then a friend asked if I wanted to come hang out and jam with his band. When I walked in, he handed me a bass – I had never played one before that - and little did I know I was auditioning to be the bass player. They told me later I was the only one that showed up. We had a fun ride for about 5 years. Oh, I can also play just enough piano for you to say “hey that sounds like…”
Junkies: How long have you been in the band?
Since day one! I knew Jeff would be the voice to the music in my head so I sent him a message on Facebook. It doesn’t hurt that he’s one sexy front man.
Junkies: In any other bands? Any past bands worth mentioning?
Filthy Rebel is it for me. Yes, I’ve played in bands before - some good and others more like what the hell was I thinking, but each one taught me something – musically, personally, spiritually. These experiences help me write music today.
Junkies: Who and or what inspires you?
Writing music, my lady, and just life in general. Meeting wonderful souls and being able to write music that makes them feel good is a true inspiration.
Junkies: What bands do you listen to? (old and new)
Too many to list! It depends on my mood. I go through stages - one day I can jam to the Beatles and the next I’m jamming to All That Remains. Been digging The Glorious Sons and Monster Truck lately…Canada is rockin’!
Junkies: Notable accomplishments?
Uproar Fest, Minerva Fest, Farm Rock Atlanta to name a few! And my 15 seconds of fame on tv’s In the Heat of the Night when I was 10. I’m giving Jeff Dean acting lessons.
Junkies: Guilty pleasure?
Kraken Rum – they can endorse me any time, Cheetos, and sex. Not necessarily in that order, but all 3 at once is like finding a unicorn.
Junkies: Hobbies? Work? School? Interests?
Being a Chef and Pit Master pays the bills and supports my guitar pedal addiction. I like being outdoors, hiking trails, and taking road trips – this is starting to sound like a centerfold bio.
