Junkies: How long have you been playing? How did you start?
My Dad started me in music very young. I distinctly remember miming on a guitar to “Mr. Crowley” when I was six, but I didn’t actually start playing seriously until I was around 13 when my older brother started playing.
Junkies: What brand do you play?
I play Schecter guitars exclusively, but I’ve pretty much modded and rebuilt all of them to my liking. I play through Marshall amps and MXR effects.
Junkies: Do you play any other instruments?
I actually started on drums and bass when I was six which is quite a ways before I got into guitar. I actually do a good amount of my writing sitting behind a drum kit and adding guitar later in the process.
Junkies: How long have you been in the band?
Since the very start which was the end of 2011 into 2012.
Junkies: Have you been in any other bands?
I’ve jammed with some other groups but I prefer to keep my focus on this project.
Junkies: Who and/or what inspires you?
My family would have to be my biggest inspiration. My Dad works his ass off to give me a good life which makes me want to work even harder. My Mom has always been super supportive and my brother is probably the greatest person I’ve ever met, so I’d say they have the biggest impact on me as far as work ethic is concerned.
Junkies: What bands do you listen to?
From the day I was born, Iron Maiden and Judas Priest have been my favorite bands and nothing has changed in the last 26 years. I love pretty much all the classic heavy metal bands, but as a guitarist I’m also huge into Stevie Ray Vaughan and Brian Setzer.
Junkies: Any guilty pleasures you're willing to share?
Musically? I listened to a lot of hair bands growing up and some of them I still listen to, most notably Cinderella, but I still think they’re amazing so I guess I’m not too embarrassed by it!
Junkies: What interests do you have outside of music?
My second love in this world is hockey and I’m still very much involved. I played my whole life, culminating in a 4 year career at Rutgers University D1, and I’ve been coaching hockey ever since graduating. I don’t play nearly as much as I’d like anymore, but it’s always a great time getting together with the guys from the team and playing some beer-league hockey.
